MANILO

Infinite Shirt Combinations, Instant Previews, One Click to the Factory

Our roleBackend development, frontend development, third-party integrations, e-commerce
MANILO is a Swiss retailer specializing in men's business attire with full shirt customization - collar style, cuff type, fabric, fit, buttons, monogram - every combination made to order. LambdaWorks built the custom configurator engine on top of Shopify's CMS: real-time preview rendering across unlimited combinations, with automatic routing to manufacturing.

The technical problem behind full customization

Standard platforms can't do itStandard e-commerce platforms handle fixed product variants. MANILO needed a system rendering accurate visual previews across every possible combination - instantly, without prerendering every permutation.
Gap between sale and productionWhen a customer finishes configuring, the system needed to translate their selections into a manufacturing order automatically, with no manual step in between. Both requirements had to be invisible to the customer. A configurator that lags or confuses is a conversion killer.

What we built

Configurator engine - Custom logic handling all combination rules and validation. Customers see only producible configurations - no invalid combinations, no manual checking. Real-time preview rendering - Instant visual feedback as customers select each option. Fabric, collar, cuff, fit, and trim rendered accurately for every combination. No waiting, no approximations. Manufacturing integration - Completed configurations generate manufacturing orders automatically. The gap between customer selection and production instruction is eliminated. Shopify foundation - Core store management, payments, and marketing integrations via Shopify CMS. Custom configurator engine layered on top - MANILO gets the sophistication of a purpose-built tool without losing Shopify's operational infrastructure.

Making complexity invisible

The measure of success for a configurator is how little the customer thinks about it. When the experience is instant and accurate, the technology disappears - and the customer focuses on the product, not the interface. That's what LambdaWorks built.
